We believe travel gives us a broad perspective both personally and professionally. Our focus is global. Our ethical position is clear; we believe in the health and safety of ALL people. We believe in the power of scientific data, and in the power of connecting with others globally, so we might learn from one another.
Compliance inSight Consulting Inc. began 17 years ago; we spend our time working to help ensure the safety of people who work with machinery. We have clients whose businesses span the globe, but most are in North America. And as many of our readers know, Doug has always been active within the global regulatory community, representing both our industry and Canada. (Doug has occasionally found himself on more aircraft in a month than many air crews!)
New Travel Policy
The current US administration has made travel to the US problematic or even impossible for many. Our company and many of our colleagues are among those affected by these decisions, as the global community scrambles to deal with what has become a daily onslaught of shifting US policy decisions. As a result, we have decided to stop travelling to the US, effective immediately, and for the foreseeable future.
Our clients from the US are our friends and neighbours, and we are still here to help.
We will continue to offer a variety of web-based solutions to our clients, providing training and consulting services via web meeting software, phone and email. We are currently investigating cloud-based education solutions so we can offer a comprehensive online training portal. We will continue to serve our US clients as we have in the past, we just won’t be stopping by for a visit for a while. We hope you understand.

Fall 2012 Seminars!
I promised in an earlier post this summer that we would be launching open enrolment courses this fall, and we’ve done it! We have all of our current seminars listed on the Compliance InSight Training pages.
We are offering two courses this fall in three locations. They are:
October, Kitchener, Ontario – Introduction to Risk Assessment
November, Portland, Oregon – Introduction to Risk Assessment
November, Kitchener, Ontario – Fundamentals of Functional Safety – ISO 13894-1:2006.
Course descriptions are available, as are more detailed syllabi on the Training pages. Registrations for these courses opens on 15-Sep, and seating is limited to 20 at each event. VISA and MasterCard payments and company cheques are accepted at registration.
In the new year we are considering a number of topics for 1, 2 and 3-day seminars, including;
- Machinery Risk Control – Applying the Hierarchy of Controls
- Intro to CE Marking for Machinery products
- Application of CSA Z432 Safeguarding of Machinery
- CSA Z1002 – OHS Risk Assessment and Control
We are very interested in your interests and concerns. Leave a comment or email me about the topics you are most interested in for 2013!
For more than 15 years I’ve been teaching people about risk assessment, machinery safety and CE Marking of machinery in private, onsite classes and through presentations at safety conferences. Things are about to change!
This fall, Compliance InSight Consulting will begin offering open-enrolment workshops in CE Marking, Risk Assessment Functional Safety, and Machinery Safety, all with a focus on industrial machinery. These courses will be hands-on events, with students engaged in workshop activities throughout each event.
In the winter, these workshops will also migrate to our on-line education platform, so students in any location around the world can access our training programs.
This is an exciting step for CIC, and the workshops we have planned are engaging, dynamic and information packed.
Watch the blog, and subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to know when registration opens. Workshops will be limited size, first-come, first-served. We’ll announce dates and locations in early August!
