IEEE PSES Functional Safety Seminar – Part 3

Doug Nix will be giving the third session in the three-part Introduction to Functional Safety seminar series at the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society Virtual Chapter meeting.’
In this third of three sessions, Doug will be introducing key functional safety concepts MTTFD, DCavg, and CCF, and will be discussing Safety-related Software Development and Verification and Validation planning. Doug Nix co-owns Compliance InSight Consulting, Inc., and writes the Machinery Safety 101 blog. His background spans more than 30 years of engineering technology experience including product testing, industrial control system design and machinery safety. Nix specializes in machinery and OHS risk assessment methods and processes. He has been teaching risk assessment principles and processes since 1997.
Nix is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Nix serves on 7 CSA, IEC and ISO Technical Committees related to his work and serves as the Chair of CSA Z1002, and Canada’s committees to ISO/TC 199 Safety of Machinery and ISO/TC 270 Plastics and rubber machines.
